She acted with stars such as Dileep, Mammootty, Nandamuri Balakrishna, Akkineni Nagarjuna, Venkatesh, Jr. NTR,Prabhas, Siddarth, Ravi Teja, Sumanth, Nitin and Silambarasan. She is known for her dedication to learn Telugu in short span of time. Charmi gave her voice to Kajal Aggarwal in the film Chandamama (2007). She was considered to be one of the best dancers in recent years. Her dance in movies like manthra and Pournami were well received by audience and critics. She was one of the actress who can mesmarize the audience with her acting & glamour.
[edit]Early lifeCharmy was born in Mumbai and her family is of Punjabi-Sikh background. She studied in Carmelite Convent English High School in Vasai. [edit]CareerShe made her acting debut in the 2002 Telugu film Nee Thodu Kaavali, in which she acted as a housewife at a young age of 15.[3] This film was a flop, but helped Charmme in getting noticed by the south Indian film industry. Her next film was Kadhal Azhivathillai with Silambarasan, which was also a flop. During this time she acted in a Malayalam film directed by Vinayan named Kattuchembakam. This film also bombed in box office. After that she acted in a couple more Tamil films but they bombed at the box office. Her re-entry to Telugu films happened with Neeke Manasichhaanu a film with Sreekanth which was a failure; then in Sri Anjaneyam, directed by ace director Krishna Vamsi which too was a failed attempt. It was followed by another failure withChanti, paired against Ravi Teja. She finally got a big break in Telugu with Gowri in which she was paired with Sumanth. She didn't have to look back afterwards. The stupendous success of Mass with Nagarjuna strengthened her position in Tollywood. Charmme's most critically acclaimed film so far is Anukokunda Oka Roju. It was a heroine-oriented thriller. Her performance in the film was acclaimed by critics. In 2006 she acted in Pournami which was a total failure in spite of high expectations, but her performance was appreciated. Though she did not learn Indian classical dance, her Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi dances in the film were appreciated by audiences. Later that year she was paired for the second time with Sumanth in Chinnodu but it was not a successful venture. Her next film, Rakhi (with NTR), was a hit. In 2007 Mantra, a thriller with Charmme in the lead role, was declared as a surprise hit.This performance fetched her the Nandi Award for the best herione of 2007. Her performance in the film is appreciated by wide range of audience.The movie was a sleeper hit because of her charm & fans base in male youth.The song "maha maha" became a superhit and her dance was well received by wide range of audience. Her role on this film is as a supporting actress and the film has done average in the box office.At present she is busy with doing special songs in high budget movies like Dhamarukam,Naayak & Yaare Koogadali. She was first considered for the most popular song of 2012 'kevvu keka'from Gabbar Singh,but later makers chosen malaika arora for unknown reasons. I am from a very normal family in Vasai, Mumbai. One day I was walking on the road, a model coordinator spotted me offered me a modeling assignment. I said I was not interested. He asked me to come for the shooting of a film. I want there and saw Abhishek Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor working for a film. Somebody spotted me over there and offered me a role in 'Nee Thodu Kaavali' in Telugu. I had my vacations going on at that time, so I said yes. I acted the role of a housewife at the age of 13.
After completing 'Nee Thodu Kavali', my vacations were over. After reaching Mumbai, the bug of acting started biting me. I wanted to become a Hindi film heroine. I used to travel by local trains in 2nd class to scout for the opportunities as Bollywood heroine. I struggled for 3 months. Then T Rajender sir signed me for 'Kadal Azivadilai' (Kurradochadu in Telugu). And my acting career took off. I did 3 films in Tamil and one film in Malayalam. Then I made a re-entry into Telugu with 'Neeke Manasichanu' starring Srikanth. I just completed 'Sri Anjaneyam'. And now I am doing this film with Sumanth as hero.
When I met Krishna Vamsi sir, he told me the movie name 'Sri Anjaneyam'. I wondered what kind of movie title it is. He explained me that it is about Lord Hanuman. Then I was not a great devotee of Lord Hanuman. But today I am. Today is Tuesday and I am fasting. The whole movie was a learning experience for me. I have not done any acting course prior to joining the films. Doing Sri Anjaneyam is like doing a course in acting for which I am getting paid. It was a great fun. I am very lucky to do that film.
Tell us about your role in 'Sri Anjaneyam'?
I want to do 10 different characters in one film. I heard that Kamal Hassan done 4 characters in Maichel Madana Kama Raju. Eddie Murphy has done 7 roles in Nutty Professor. I heard that some other actor did 9 roles. I want to beat it. I don't mind playing the role of even a hooker or a 2-scene role. I would do it for free if any producer offers me this dream project. If nobody comes forward, I don't mind producing that film myself. I sincerely hope that some director would offer me these many roles after reading this interview in idlebrain.com
